Santa Muerte (Spanish for Saint Death or Holy Death) is a female folk saint worshipped and honored primarily in Mexico and the United States. Although honored as a saint, her worship is strictly forbidden by the Catholic Church and is considered by the Church to be mislead devil-worship. She is represented as a robe-clad human skeleton holding a variety of objects, usually a scythe and a globe.
